I have been to Guyana many times and actually published two books on this amazing country - a hidden jewel of South America. The jewel within the jewel were my two trips with Ashley Holland, owner/operator of Mapari Wilderness Camp. Incredible is the only word to describe them. Trips with Ash have been such a pleasure as he just ‘gets’ the needs of a professional wildlife photographer. The sightings were incredible and it surely has to be the last denizen of giant anacondas (apart from everything else). The area was pristine. Perhaps the most incredible aspect of all was that in those three weeks we did not see a single other human being. A rare privilege. Thank you Ashley for your abundant knowledge, wisdom, expertise and humour.

Ashley is the single most capable guide I have encountered in my 25-year wildlife film making career.
His team was excellent. And everyone remained cheerful at all times!

Transporting, sheltering, and feeding a film crew on a jungle river is a huge challenge, but Ashley and his team were more than equal to the task, and great company too, despite our out-of-the-ordinary demands in our drive for out-of-the-ordinary results. A big part of the equation is a deep, detailed knowledge of the rivers and wildlife — the fact that we’ve now made three expeditions with them says it all.

One thing that is always very important on such adventurous trips – that you can rely on the guy who is organizing it. Well, Ashley is not only a very friendly guy and great company, but also a guy you can trust 100 %. They will take care of you and keep you safe. He will do everything to make your trip an unforgettable experience!

I’ve spent at least a couple of months of every year in tropical rain forests, but the country I keep going back to is Guyana. It is the best jungle nation on earth, where you are most likely to see anacondas, jaguar, giant anteaters and miles and miles of untouched pristine forest. The other reason is Ashley Holland, owner of Mapari Wilderness Camp. Ash has taken me on my most memorable jungle journeys. Together we’ve dived with electric eels, caught spiders the size of dinner plates, slept in the treetops watching harpy eagles bring in monkeys for their chicks, and caught piranha to cook on the fire. Every trip has revealed new wonders. I trust Ash with my life, and know that anyone who travels with him will have the experience of a lifetime.

 Can’t wait to come back!!!!!

As with any trip the difference between a good trip and a great trip lays in the hands of your guide. Without a great guide you miss out on all the good stuff pretty quickly. The “good stuff” naturally includes spotting the wildlife and enjoying all the beauty that nature has to offer. But the “good stuff” also includes being kept safe, your guide being knowledgeable and having great company around. All of this is in the right hands with Ashley. I have enjoyed our time on the river a lot! British wit and Guyanese guiding skills coming together are the recipe for a trip of a lifetime.
